Like any other Indian community, the Vishwakarma is closely bound by its customs and traditions. The community majorly consists of coppersmiths, goldsmiths, carpenters, sculptors and blacksmiths. Earlier the Vishwakarma were restricted to a particular region, but now they have spread across the country. And, with the cross-cultural influences being prominent in our country, even the Vishwakarma community is said to have accepted changes, including those with respect to Vishwakarma matrimony. In the past, they had a very distinctive wedding tradition, right from cultural divisions to ceremonial rituals. Even the bride’s attire was based on their own customary trend. Now, the brides are ready to move ahead along with the change and choose their attire to suit the present era. If you are from the Vishwakarma community and are going to be a bride in the coming months, here are a few tricks that can add elegance and class to your traditional bridal attire.

  1. Saree with a Stylish Border: Tradition does suggest white attire for the wedding, but you can always add coloured borders to the white saree. You can choose a saree with a nice golden, red, pink, or any other bright coloured wide border. This will beautify your saree and add a touch of elegance to your look. Wide borders with temple designs, antique prints, scallop designs and mirror work are ruling the trend, and you too can add the same to your wedding saree.
  2. Contemporary Style Blouse Design: Add some chic to your wedding attire by playing around with your blouse’s colour and design. Some of the latest trends in blouse are mirror work, triangle cut back design, boat neck blouse, blouse with pearl design and Goddess design Maggam work blouse. All these designs are meant to beautify the bridal attire.
  3. Minimal yet Traditional Jewellery: Vishwakarma brides are usually decked in heavy gold jewellery. If you want to add class to your bridal look, you can opt for some light-weight delicate gold pieces with intricate goddess and temple designs, or some jewellery with diamond setting. These light-weight and not overly-done jewellery pieces are classy to look at.
  4. Tone Down Makeup: Loud makeup on the wedding day can make your skin look cakey. So, you must insist on some natural looking makeup, and focus on the longevity of the products being used. Your makeup shouldn’t fade away in the day’s heat. You can focus more on the eyes by adding a touch of sparkle while keeping the rest of the makeup minimal. Also, it is not necessary to wear a red lipstick only; instead, wear lipstick in sync with your saree’s blouse or border – a rani pink, light pink or an orange shade.
  5. Henna is the Key: Nowadays, henna artists have some amazing designs for you that will have your hands and feet be the most noticeable part of your wedding look. So, ask your henna artist to add some fun and trendy elements to your henna.
